Shouldn't the Catholic Church have dissolved when Urban VI and Clement VII excommunicated each other?
Shouldn't the Catholic Church have ended when, sometime in the late 14th century, Pope Urban VI excommunicated Pope Clement VII and his followers and Pope Clement excommunicated Pope Urban and his followers, thus excommunicating everyone in Christendom?
