God exists, but is constrained to behave exactly as though He did not exist. Therefore, He had to create the universe using only the same methods by which a non-God-requiring universe could have come into being. He could only breathe life into the first creatures on Earth when the conditions were already correct for abiogenesis to occur by itself, and could only create new ones in ways that suggested they could have evolved naturally from their predecessors.
