How come little small towns never get the ( non conformist) teen age trends?

theris like no emos or goths here....( not saying goth is a trend though) but the way i dress my perents hate.if i try to tease my hair and then go out to eat with them my mom will say ( your dad is not going to let you go out like that).their really judgemental.i try to tell them how looks really dont matter.and that i make straight a's but they dont listen.she says ( you dont see any one else dressing like that) and im like ( most places have emos in them i guess its just no the cool thing here)and yeah i was walking out wearing arm warmers and she said * your not a rockstar on tv or anything take them off* i just want to know why old fashioned people hate something they know nothing about or the subculture it self? its not all about the clothing anyway.way more goes behind it
